Fireplace App App Reviews

This fireplace app is nice. However, I am really looking for an application that can replicate an authentic campfire. The low and high pitch crackles. The pops. I would like to see several more variations of fire place sets including several outdoor varieties. And most importanly, more variable sounds and different loops of sound. Living in the city its difficult to recreate those long stoked camp fires from the outdoors. I want an application where I can sit in my living room, reading a book, and for an instant place myself around a warm camp fire on a chilly summer night.

This app does have high quality graphics and the sounds are very realistic. My concerns are related to the user interface which limits its use, at least for me. 1. When you move the mouse the dialoge box reappears. It would be nice to be able to disable this. Id like to be able to run the app on one monitor while working on another. 2. I wish the loop was longer, there is a slight hesitation when the loop restarts, which wouldnt be as notcable if the loop was lonnger. Overall, worth .99 cents, but Im hoping these issues are resolved in future updates.

Main complaint is the volume. Sounds like a bad recording with a bunch of white noise in the background behind the crackling. If you really want to hear the crackling you have to turn it up so high that you hear too much ambient noise. Would also be cool to have a crackle adjustment. Some random loud crackles once in a while would be cool...

this app is fantastic. i keep one of my macs connected to a 50" plasma w/ surround - the HD is awesome. it looks and sounds great.

The light it makes actually makes the screen feel warmer and the area around it. It has great visuals. And great sound effects! I love this app and its really cheap compared to a lot of other ones. I dont buy many apps for the mac, but this is the greatest one Ive gotten so far. I would definitely recommend buying this app, especially now during winter. If your power goes out, this would be a great tool to use to provide light, and to warm up!

Brick 1 is the nicest looking but the freeze, when the loop repeats, is way too long. (using iMac i7) Stone 2 should be zoomed in similar to Brick1

I get the Spinning Beachball of Death when I launch this on both my Quad-Core i5 iMac and on my Macbook. App flat out fails to work for me.

I have my 27" iMac near my bed and its nice to have the sound of the fireplace but I dont want the screen running all night. A way to implement a sleep feature would make this the perfect Fireplace app for me! Thanks!

the flames arent smooth on the newest mac mini. they jerk, and seem like theyre on speed. sound volume is WAY too low. I saw these 15 years ago and they were better then. keep waiting

I really like this fireplace app! Please update the preferences to not pop up when you move the mouse. That would make this app perfect. Thanks!

Its obvious that its looping. Image quality isnt that good either in comparison to other apps. Fireplace Plus is better (no i dont work for them). Flame sound and crackling is more soothing and i cant detect looping. The only downside to Fireplace Plus is the image quality.

Fun app.

I paid for the full app hoping the single "pop" sound in the free app has been eliminated. It hasnt. I love the concept; I love the video. In fact, the audio is great until that single little "pop" that is so distinct. I would give the app 5 stars if the "pop" werent there.

It is hokey. and its cute. It does exactly what it says it will do, and it doesnt try to be anything its not. Super cute and worth it for us city dwellers without the fireplace for the holidays. :)

I like this app - I like it in full screen, and I like it in a little corner. Only thing I wish is that the giant control window wouldnt come up and stay every time I hover the mouse over it. Id rather just do all that in the menu. Other than that, this is probably my favorite fireplace app.

All 3 fires had the same audio that has a "click" that is obviously a mpg conversion click every 13 seconds. Now that Ive noticed it, it totally ruines the authentic feel of sitting by a fireplace. Please fix. thanks

This was my first app store purchase, and I continue to love it, and am impressed by the updates offered periodically. It does make my fan run, but is so pretty and relaxing, I can forgive that. Hats off to the developers on this one!

I have to agree with another reviewer that it could be better...a lot better.

Huge dialog box in the middle of the screen will NEVER go away. I bought the paid app thinking that it was an issue of the free app, but no. The dialog box is there to ruin the effect forever, in all modes.
